There is no Bountygate situation present here, but the San Francisco 49ers might have gotten a little too aggressive on the field in a football game last season. At least, that's what Ben Roethlisberger is claiming. Sort of.
Here is the story from NFL.com.
"Um, wow, that's tough," Roethlisberger said on The Dan Patrick Show, via Comcast SportsNet Bay Area. "I don't really complain about that stuff, either. But I think when we played San Fran, I felt like there were some things going on, some extra ... Now, obviously, I did have the ankle and I was playing, so there was kind of a bulls-eye on there anyway. But for the most part, guys play tough and you go into a game expecting it. I expect to be tougher than them."
Big Ben probably did get hit a lot in that game, but this was probably a common sentiment for most teams last year. Remember when a bunch of Saints players got injured during their NFC Playoff contest? The 49ers excelled in smash mouth football on both sides of the field.
Still, Roethlisberger is one of the toughest guys in the league, so when he talks about getting hit a lot, you know he was getting roughed up a bit.
