There is an awful lot to like about the San Francisco 49ers next season. Alex Smith looked like a different quarterback under Jim Harbaugh in 2011, and now he will have new targets to throw in in the way of Randy Moss and Mario Manningham. The defense was among the best in the game last season and should continue to improve. And let's not forget the special teams units that were spectacular for most of the year, the playoffs notwithstanding.
Just about every football analyst will have the 49ers winning the NFC West next season, but not Skip Bayless of ESPN.
I'll let you decide whether or not this is a good thing for San Francisco fans.
Here is video of Bayless saying the 49ers won't be that good and that they won't win the West.
Everyone is certainly entitled to their own opinion, but Bayless doesn't make a whole lot of sense here. Yes, Alex Smith isn't Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady, but he doesn't need to be given the talent amassed on this roster. There are very few weak spots that come with the 49ers, something you cannot say for the Cardinals or Seahawks (or Rams).
Anything can happen in the NFL, but picking San Francisco to win the division seems like a pretty safe bet assuming the team can stay relatively healthy.
What do you think of Bayless' bold statements?
