Michael Davis, Brother Of 49ers Vernon Davis, Charged With First-Degree Murder

According to a report from CBS News 19-year old Michael Davis, brother of San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis, has been charged with first-degree murder in the gruesome death of a 66-year old tourist in the Washington D.C. Area.

The attack in question occurred on April 24, with some kind of blunt object used as a weapon, currently believed to be a hammer. Davis had already been charged in connection with other hammer attacks in the area, while the police are investigating five attacks in total. He was charged with two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed on April 28.

He was arrested after he allegedly attacking a 19-year-old D.C. woman. Police found a claw hammer amongst Davis's things.

Davis' defense attorney tried to argue that there was 'no probable cause for his arrest because the victims could not credibly identify their attacker.' The judge overruled that argument, maintaining that Davis will remain behind bars until his next hearing in court.

The Washington Post reports that Davis was held a year ago for psychiatric evaluation when those around him became fearful of his behavior, according to the court documents.
