2012 NFL Draft Results: 49ers Select Darius Fleming At No. 165

With the No. 165 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers selected Darius Fleming, outside linebacker out of Notre Dame. San Francisco actually kept their own pick for this one - after having traded down and up a couple times now on days two and three. Fleming joins A.J. Jenkins, RB LaMichael James and OG Joe Looney, who were picked in the first, second and fourth rounds, respectively

Fleming is regarded as a high-ceiling guy with a lot of potential as a pass rusher, but is extremely raw and doesn't do anything in particular exceedingly well. He also struggles in the passing game, getting lost in the defense at times. He started his junior and senior year at outside linebacker, but did play on the line at times those years (he started there his sophomore year).

It appears to be a solid pick, though it's not necessarily a huge need, given the drafting of Aldon Smith last season.
