With the 80th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals select Jamell Fleming, CB from Oklahoma .
With their first selection, the Cards took WR Michael Floyd from Notre Dame but did not have a second round selection. Fleming is a good corner prospect just a tick below the elite ones who will help offset the recent losses the Cardinals have suffered in their secondary with Antrel Rolle and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie joining other teams in the last few years.
Flemming is very good at man coverage and can be a lockdown corner in a man scheme. He doesn't have great size for a corner, but he is very athletic and has enough body control and ball skills to adequately cover just about any receiver. The Cardinal pass defense has been lacking lately and Fleming and Patrick Peterson, last year's first round pick, will help to rectify that.
