One of the biggest dates for the NFL offseason is right around the corner: the full schedule release for all 32 teams. It's a time of year that is far more obsessive for NFL fans than it is for fans of other sports, mostly because it's only 16 games and easier to digest. On Monday, the NFL Network Tweeted that the schedule will be released live on NFL Network at 4:00 p.m. pacific on Tuesday.
It’s true. The 2012 schedule gets unveiled LIVE tomorrow (7pm ET). Crossing your fingers for any dream match-ups? #2012NFLSchedule

Fans obsess over how many miles a team travels, where the short weeks are, and, most importantly, prime time games. Speaking of prime time games, there was a rumor, via Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, that the 49ers would open up the season with a very tough matchup: the Green Bay Packers:
Hearing consistent rumor, including from Fox's Chris Myers, that #49ers will open the season in Green Bay. Buck, Aikman to call game.

That's a tall order for the 49ers, who will have a much tougher schedule in 2012 in comparison to 2011. That being said, the team is much better than in recent years, so they're likely up to the task. That being said, it doesn't get much harder than taking on the Packers in Lambeau.
