San Francisco 49ers Director of Player Personnel Tom Gamble will interview with the St. Louis Rams for their vacant general manager post, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Gamble has been with the Niners for seven years and moved up to his current position in 2010 when 49ers General Manager Trent Baalke assumed his current role, clearing room for Gamble to move up.
Gamble has ties to new Rams' coach Jeff Fisher. They both previously worked for the Philadelphia Eagles together, Gamble in various roles with the Eagles' personnel department and Fisher as defensive coordinator between 1988 and 1990. Gamble's father was also general manager and president of the Eagles for some time.
Gamble, who is in his 24th season in the NFL, was also a college scout with the Indianapolis Colts between 1998 and 2004.
The Rams have also interviewed Minnesota Vikings Director of Player Personnel George Paton, New York Jets Vice President of College Scouting Joey Clinkscales, Miami Dolphins Director of Player Personnel Brian Gaine and Arizona Cardinals Director of Player Personnel Steve Keim.
