Aldon Smith Arrested: 49ers Linebacker Likely To Be Fined, Probably Will Not Be Suspended

Aldon Smith got himself into a considerable amount of trouble on Friday evening as he had a few too many drinks while partying in Miami. While he will spend some time in jail before having a hearing in front of a judge, Smith will likely only be fined for his actions by the National Football League and Roger Goodell. He is lucky that this is only his first DUI arrest.

Here is the NFL's personal conduct policy:

Any Covered Person arrested for or charged with conduct prohibited by this policy will be required to undergo a consultation and additional counseling as directed. Failure to comply with the consultation and counseling (including being arrested for or charged with additional criminal activity during the evaluation and counseling period) shall itself be conduct detrimental to the National Football League and shall be punishable by fine or suspension at the discretion of the Commissioner.

We can only hope Aldon learned from his mistakes and will never jeopardize his life and the lives of others as he did early Saturday morning. We will likely see an official statement from Smith and the San Francisco 49ers in the coming days.
