The San Francisco 49ers are getting set for the NFC Championship Game against the New York Giants, and it seems like the last thing on their mind would be the 2012 NFL Draft. But there's definitely something the Niners will probably wish they had for Sunday's contest: a big play wide receiver that could stretch the field against opposing defenses. San Francisco lacks that element to their game, with only tight end Vernon Davis and wide receiver Michael Crabtree being reliable pass-catching options.
Mel Kiper seems to outline that need for a big-time receiver (need an Insider account for the full draft), as Alshon Jeffrery of the South Carolina Gamecocks is the guy he has the Niners picking in the first round of the draft. Kiper says "Jeffery is an absolute beast, a guy who plays at more than 230 pounds and easily could top 6-foot-4 when he measures out."
