NFL Mock Draft 2012: San Francisco 49ers Select Wide Receiver Mohamed Sanu

The San Francisco 49ers shocked the football world in 2011, easily winning their division and claiming the second-best record in the NFC. While the team is still battling for a chance at the Super Bowl, the 2012 NFL Draft will still be a very big day for the franchise as they continue to build for the future. There are a few areas of the team the front office may look to improve upon, but according to SB Nation's latest mock draft the team will go with a wide receiver.

29. San Francisco 49ers, Mohamed Sanu, WR, Rutgers

Remember this time last year when everybody thought the 49ers would be in the running for Andrew Luck? Now, they need to think about adding some offensive weapons for Alex Smith. Sanu has the size and hands to impress, but he lacks the speed to be drafted higher. No need. His ability to get yards after the catch are a perfect complement to Smith.

Of course the 49ers still do not know their actual draft position with the playoffs still going on, but the team should at least be able to hone in on where they will likely end up come April 26. As for Sanu, a junior out of Rutgers, he recorded 115 catches for 1,206 yards and seven touchdowns this past year. Prior to the 2011 season, he served as both a receiver and running back, where he put up respectable numbers at both positions.
