49ers Vs. Cowboys Score: Alex Smith, PI Call Leads San Francisco To 7-0 Lead Over Dallas

The San Francisco 49ers are on the board first after the Dallas Cowboys botched their first drive. Tony Romo found Tashard Choice for 18 yards, Jason Witten for 25 and 22 yard connections, and John Phillips for 8 yards to set up a Dan Bailey 21 yard field goal attempt. Bailey sailed his kick wide right.

After both teams traded punts, Alex Smith started to get going, finding Ted Ginn, Jr. and Frank Gore for 10+ yard catches. When Smith was under pressure on 3rd and 10, he managed to find Ginn for 14 yards on an out route for a big first down.

On second down later in the drive, San Francisco center Jonathan Goodwin snapped the ball high and above Smith. Smith kept the play alive though, rolled out to his right, then hauled it downfield to Frank Gore in the end zone. It fell incomplete, but a Cowboys defender knocked Gore off the ball when he tipped it, and he got called for pass interference. Gore punched it in two plays later for the first touchdown of the game, putting the Niners up on top 7-0 early in the second quarter.
