49ers vs. Cowboys Odds: Line Opens With Dallas Favored

The San Francisco 49ers welcome their old rival the Dallas Cowboys to town this Sunday in a battle of teams trying to figure out where they stand in 2011. Both teams are coming off 6-10 seasons in 2010 and both have quarterbacks that are lightning rods for criticism within the fan base.

While Tony Romo does raise question marks in the eyes of Cowboys fans, bookies still view the Cowboys as slightly better than the 49ers heading into their matchup on Sunday. The Cowboys are on the road this week but have opened as three point favorites against the 49ers. The over/under on the contest sits at 42 points.

The early weeks of the season are tough for bookies as most teams are still trying to figure out where they stand. The 49ers won 33-17 last weekend but if any 49ers fan says they confidently know where this teams stands, they're lying or delusional. The team has several question marks that were overcome by a strong pass rush and dominant special teams. It is possible this will be the identity of the 2011 San Francisco 49ers, but it is too early to say that with any confidence.

Naturally I'd bet the 49ers to cover (not that I'd ever think of wagering money on sports!), but this is a tough contest to call.
