With the clock ticking down towards the first game of the regular season the San Francisco 49ers continued to shave and tune their roster, as the latest player being cut is tight end Colin Cloherty.
Cloherty had been with the team since last October when he was signed to the team’s practice squad, then in December signed with the team and suited up for the final two games of the regular season in 2010. He made it this far in training camp on grit and determination alone, but had a lot of other talented players at the position to have to deal with, falling short of being a 49er for the 2011 regular season. That leaves Konrad Reuland and Nate Lawrie vying for the third TE spot on the roster
Cloherty is a graduate of Brown University where he made the All Ivy-League squad in both his 2007 and 2008 seasons.
