NFL Draft 2011: 49ers Second Round Mock Features Curtis Brown

Although we are already well into the 2011 NFL Draft, that does not mean mock drafts are officially done. Upon completion of the first round, folks at SB Nation put together a mock draft for the second round. The upside is it gives us something to analyze, the downside is that with no trades it is guaranteed to fall on its face. After yesterday’s draft day insanity, we are once again reminded of how little we really know (Prince Amukamara and Cameron Jordan, anybody?)

45. San Francisco 49ers: Curtis Brown, CB, Texas. After passing on Prince Amukamara in the first round, the 49ers still desperately need corner help. Brown is an underrated prospect.

SB Nation decided that Curtis Brown was the choice here as the 49ers need for a cornerback still exists after one day of the draft. The 49ers do have a big need at corner, but also are likely to have some interest in the various quarterbacks hanging around after day one, including Andy Dalton and Colin Kaepernick. The SB Nation mock includes Dalton, Kaepernick, and Ryan Mallett.

I actually wouldn’t be surprised if the 49ers moved up at some point today. They’ve got the picks to make a small move, and with some intriguing names still out there, we could see a trade at some point.
