Jack Harbaugh Plans To Avoid Limelight During 49ers, Ravens 'HarBowl'

On Thursday, the "HarBowl" will get underway, and if you're tired of hearing that phrase, well that's just too bad. The San Francisco 49ers, led by Head Coach Jim Harbaugh, will travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens, led by Head Coach John Harbaugh. Their father, Jack Harbaugh, has been very involved in both of their coaching careers, studying film from his sons' teams' games and practice that they send him.

Recently, he got on 105.7 The Fan in Baltimore to discuss his plans for the game, among other things. Jack intends to hit the stadium, grab a picture with the boys and their mother, and then hightail it out of there. He doesn't want to be the center of attention and doesn't want the cameras on him as much as the game - saying it's about the 49ers versus the Ravens, nothing more, nothing less. Sports Radio Interviews transcribed the radio interview, and there's some excerpts after the jump - the full transcript is here.

So you're trying to get out of the limelight?:

"I remember a few years ago I watched when the Mannings opened the season one year. I'm sure it was all planned. Peyton and Eli opened and I remembered seeing the Mannings up in a press box and it seemed like the camera spent as much time on them as they did the two boys. I perceive the anguish that they felt in watching the ballgame. That's probably misplaced, but that's what I saw, and we made up our mind that this day is about the 49ers and about the Ravens."

There's also a link to listen to the audio at the Sports Radio Interviews page linked before the jump.
