VIDEO: Vernon Davis Sets 49ers Franchise Record For TE Touchdowns

It just took a couple halftime adjustments for the San Francisco 49ers to get back on track against the Arizona Cardinals. They took a 9-0 lead into halftime, but significantly underwhelmed on offense, and had two of their field goals blocked, with one miss on top of that. Now, Alex Smith has thrown a pair of touchdowns and the 49ers lead 23-0 at the time of writing this, in the third quarter.

One of those touchdown passes was a beauty to tight end Vernon Davis, Smith's best throw of the game. It was a throw that Smith has tried a few times this game, but overthrew each time. He overthrew passes to Michael Crabtree and Braylon Edwards, and also one to Davis. But redemption came in the 18 yard touchdown reception that set a nice little record for Davis, who already is tied for the mark of most touchdowns for a tight end in the NFL in a single season.

Now he can say he ranks first in 49ers history in touchdowns for a tight end, with 34, passing the record set by Brent Jones. Below, a video of the touchdown ... also, Davis got hops.
