NFL Power Rankings, Week 15: Raiders Jumping, 49ers Slipping In SB Nation Rankings

SB Nation released their weekly NFL power rankings and the results are not all that shocking. The Raiders made a nice little climb from No. 19 to No. 14, while the 49ers slipped two spots from No. 24 to No. 26.

14. Oakland Raiders (6-6): The Raiders clearly have the Chargers number sweeping the season series Oakland is down two games to the Chiefs right now and play KC one time so they don’t control their own destiny. LW: 19

I’ve never quite understood the idea of “controlling your own destiny.” I mean I get why people like to say it, but really it’s factually incorrect. Isn’t destiny something that cannot inherently be controlled? Maybe I’m just nit-picking. If we truly can control our own destiny, then it’s not really destiny at that point.

26. San Francisco 49ers (4-8): Jed York still thinks the 49ers can win the NFC West. You know what the saddest part is? Even at 4-8, there’s some truth to that. The 49ers are two games out with four to play. LW: 24

I’m not all that surprised to hear Jed York continually spout off about the 49ers still being in the playoff race. After all, he has to support his team and show them that ownership still has confidence in them. Of course, if they lose this week at home to Seattle and are basically eliminated from playoff contention, I’m curious to hear what he’ll have to say.
