49ers vs. Seahawks: 49ers Take 30-7 Halftime Lead Behind Great Offense, Seattle Miscues

The 49ers have stunned the Seahawks and likely most of the football watching world as they jumped out to a 30-7 lead heading into the halftime break. After opening the game with an Alex Smith-Vernon Davis touchdown connection, the 49ers capitalized on three Seahawks turnovers to get 13 more points.

In his return to the starting QB role, Alex Smith has overcome some rustiness to get the 49ers in position to snag their fifth win of the season. We’re only starting the second half, but if Smith can put together another efficient half, this game is there for the taking. Smith was 13/20 for 198 yards and three touchdowns. The offense stalled in the red zone a couple times, but recently acquired kicker Jeff Reed has stepped up in his limited time for the 49ers. If he can finish the season strong, he’ll command a decent contract from somebody. Given Joe Nedney’s age and injuries, it’s entirely possible the 49ers bring Reed back next season.

And just like that, the 49ers have taken a 37-7 lead on a Dashon Goldson pick-six. This game is officially getting rather ugly.
