$20 From Vernon Davis Goes A Long Way...

New, 1 comment

...towards NCAA violations. The University of North Carolina self-reported that five people "provided 'impermissible gifts of cash and jewelry and impermissible assistance' with travel and entertainment expenses." The largest amount came from former Tar Heels wide receiver Hakeem Nicks, who provided $3,300 in benefits to players (unnamed). The smallest amount appears to have come from 49ers tight end and former University of Maryland star Vernon Davis in the amount of $20.

Yes, you read that right: $20. I'm really curious to know what kind of benefits cover $20 and what player(s) at UNC received this from a Maryland alum. I'd imagine it involved Davis paying for meals but who knows. But I'm certainly glad to see the NCAA cracking down on $20 gifts. We can't have that!
