Vernon Davis Suffers Ankle Injury In London, Seriousness Uncertain

This is pretty much the only bleak spot on an otherwise glorious night for the Niners in London.

San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis left the game against the Denver Broncos with an injured ankle.

Davis did not return.

Davis was listed as questionable for Sunday’s game at Wembley Stadium with an ankle injury but played most of the first half before being taken out in the second quarter.

The tight end had been suffering from an ankle ailment before this game. He didn’t practice on Wednesday or Thursday, so you might have to consider that it was the same injury that took him out of this game. Troy Smith found other targets though, particularly Delanie Walker and Michael Crabtree.

Thankfully, he has two weeks to heal it up, since San Francisco gets the next week off to rest up from their long trip overseas. The bye week couldn’t have come at a better time for the prolific Niner.
