Sacramento Kings Nearing Deal To Re-Sign Jason Thompson, According To Report

The Sacramento Kings have made it a priority to re-sign young power forward Jason Thompson in the offseason, and it appears the two sides are nearing an agreement. Despite drafting Thomas Robinson in the first round of the NBA Draft, Thompson has really improved in recent years and would likely be the sixth or seventh man off the bench.

Along with Robinson, DeMarcus Cousins and Chuck Hayes, Thompson should give the Kings a strong front court for years to come. Seeing as this area was a major weakness just a couple of seasons ago, it's good to see the team addressing their issues.

No word as of yet on the dollar figures or length, but most estimates believe it'll be a three- or four-year deal worth an annual salary of $6-8 million. Not a bad payday at all for the former first round pick of 2008.
