2012 NBA Draft, Kings: Reaction To Thomas Robinson, Fifth Overall Pick

The Sacramento Kings made use of the fifth overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft to select Thomas Robinson, a power forward out of Kansas. Judging by the voting in the fan poll over at SB Nation's Kings blog Sactown Royalty, Kings fans are quite pleased with the selection. The selection of Robinson raises some questions, as Sactown Royalty explains:

Robinson figures to challenge for a starting spot next to DeMarcus Cousins early on, putting Jason Thompson's role into question. Thompson becomes a restricted free agent on Sunday. The Kings have issued a qualifying offer, meaning that the team can match any offer sheet he signs.

Adding a player that was expected by many to be drafted No. 2 overall can't be anything but a good thing for the Kings, but it does complicate things a bit. However those things shake out, Sactown Royalty will have quality insight and analysis.
