Hey, Sacramento Kings fans, you might be wondering what this team needs, and your first thought probably goes to "Oh, we definitely need another spot-up, pull-up shooter who demands the basketball and stalls the offense. That's what we need to get back in the right direction." And your second thought would be, "Am I insane? Why would I think that?"
Apparently Kings management is a little loony these days, because they're expressing interest in the one player they shouldn't be expressing any interest in at all. HoopsWorld has the story.
One Blazer who is garnering a lot of interest in particular is shooting guard Jamal Crawford.
Sources confirm to HOOPSWORLD that Crawford, who was signed as an unrestricted free agent this offseason to be retired shooting guard Brandon Roy’s replacement, is on several team’s radar. The Los Angeles Clippers and Minnesota Timberwolves are pursuing him the strongest, but the Sacramento Kings, Toronto Raptors and Milwaukee Bucks have also expressed interest.
The Kings don't really need a player like Crawford when they have plenty of players capable of creating their own shot. It's more important for Sacramento to accrue players who have a strong acumen for working within the offense. Unless of course they're planning on trading one of their shooters for a shooter, this isn't a trade that makes too much sense for the Kings.
