NBA Rookie-Sophomore Game: DeMarcus Cousins An Early MVP Favorite

The NBA is looking to make their All-Star Weekend into a special event and created the BBVA Rising Stars game, which is essentially the annual Rookie-Sophomore Game with a twist. This year, Shaquille O'Neal and Charles Barkley drafted their own teams and have them playing tonight. The game is currently in the first half and is being televised on TNT.

DeMarcus Cousins is having a fine second season with the Sacramento Kings and is playing for Team Chuck this evening. The big man joked about going for the MVP earlier in the week and got off to a very strong start, scoring 13 points and bringing down three rebounds in a little less than six minutes of play. Cousins shot a perfect 6-for-6 from the field

Not too many players would care about winning MVP in the Rising Stars Game, but you know Cousins wants to, for nothing more than to brag to other young guns around the league.

For those who are counting at home, Jeremy Lin has no points. Clearly a bust.

Clearly.
