Sacramento Kings Tip-Off Their Season Against Los Angeles Lakers

The Sacramento Kings are ready for their opening night of the 2011-12 NBA season against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Sacramento Kings are back home in the California state capital for another season. Hopefully it's the first of many.

The Kings will start this regular season the way they ended last year, with a game against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Kings will have a lot of new faces in place, particularly forward John Salmons (in his second stint in Sacramento) and rookie guard Jimmer Fredette, who has stirred a wave of excitement in the Sacramento fanbase. It'll be a group full of young and exciting players, who all figure to join Tyreke Evans, DeMarcus Cousins and Marcus Thornton in the rebuilding process back to respectability.

The Lakers are coming off a tough loss against the Chicago Bulls on Christmas Day, and it might not be an easy contest for the aging legs of Kobe Bryant, Derek Fisher and Pau Gasol. With Sacramento ready to move forward and try and reassert themselves in the picture, this could be a great opportunity to showcase that they're ready to take the next step as a team.
