The Kings got off to a hot start in New York. Tyreke Evans definitely has made a difference so far on the defensive end, grabbing two steals in the first quarter. He wasn’t as good on offense however, scoring just two points on 1-5 from the field.
DeMarcus Cousins is also having the best game of his road trip so far with 8 points and 5 rebounds. New York simply doesn’t have the size to keep him out of the paint, and he’s taking advantage, especially on the offensive glass (3 offensive rebounds).
On the other end, Amar’e and the Knicks are really struggling with their outside shots, shooting just 25% for the quarter, and the Kings are doing a good job preventing them from getting inside. Beno Udrih (!) had a couple great defensive plays late in the first to stop sure baskets.
The Kings could have led by more but a bad decision by Francisco Garcia to pass out of a wide open three resulted in a turnover and Bill Walker three to end the quarter.
