Looks like all that tanking paid off after all. Well, it hasn’t yet, but at least it’s set up the Golden State Warriors for a possible payout.

The Warriors won a tie-breaking coin flip with the Toronto Raptors to sneak into the No. 7 slotted team at the NBA draft lottery Friday, improving their chances greatly of keeping their first round pick.

Because of a trade a few season back, if the Warriors wind up with the No. 1 through No. 7 pick in the draft, it’s theirs to keep. If the Warriors wind up with the No. 8 pick or worse, it will belong to the Utah Jazz.

By winning the drawing, the Warriors will have a 72. 4 percent chance of finishing the lottery among the top seven, and therefore keeping the pick. Had the Warriors lost , their chances would have fallen to 12.5 percent of jumping into the top three, which the Raptors have now as the No. 8 seed.

The draft lottery will be held May 30.

Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Patrick Mills poured in a game-high 34 points to go with 12 assists and five rebounds as the San Antonio Spurs topped the Golden State Warriors, 107-101, in the regular season finale for both teams at Oracle Arena.

DeJuan Blair put home 22 points and ripped down 13 rebounds and James Anderson contributed 19 points and seven rebounds for the Spurs, who head into their first-round matchup with the Utah Jazz on a roll, having won 10 consecutive games to finish the season in first place in the Western Conference.

Chicago's win over Cleveland earlier on Thursday killed any chance that San Antonio had of gaining home-court advantage throughout the playoffs.

That series starts on Sunday in San Antonio.

San Antonio (50-16) has won 50 games for the 13th consecutive season, passing the 1979-91 Los Angeles Lakers, who reached the 50-win plateau 12 straight times.

Chris Wright paced the Warriors (23-43) with 25 points and eight rebounds, while Klay Thompson added 17 points and Jeremy Tyler and Charles Jenkins contributed 16 points apiece. Golden State has missed the playoffs for the fifth consecutive year.

From Stephen Curry To Kwame Brown to Andrew Bogut and now David Lee, the Golden State Warriors simply can't shake the injury bug this season.

Warriors forward David Lee will have surgery to repair a torn abdominal muscle in Philadelphia on Friday according to the Contra Costa Times' Marcus Thompson

Lee sat out the last seven games of the season with what was diagnosed as a strained groin and a stress reaction, discovered during an April 13 MRI at team facilites. Lee visited specialist Dr. William Meyers out in Philadelphia to have his injury checked out which after further examination showed enough to merit surgery.

In other surgery news, Stephen Curry's scope of his oft injured ankle was 'successful,' removing some scar tissue and bone spurs while revealing no structural damage. His recovery time is seen as anywhere from 3-4 months.

Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Brandon Rush drained the go-ahead three-pointer with 1:09 to go in the game and the Golden State Warriors recovered from a 21-point second-quarter deficit to stun the Minnesota Timberwolves, 93-88, at Target Center on Sunday.

Charles Jenkins poured in a game-high 24 points to go with six rebounds and nine assists, Rush ended his night with 19 points and nine rebounds, and Klay Thompson contributed 17 points for the Warriors, who snapped an eight-game skid.

"We felt if we got stops, they would let us back in the game," Jenkins said. ...I think that's what we did in the second half."

Dominic McGuire and Richard Jefferson donated 12 and 10 points, respectively, in the win.

Nikola Pekovic led the way for the Timberwolves with 19 points and 16 rebounds. Martell Webster added 18 points, while Anthony Randolph and J.J. Barea finished with 14 points apiece for the T'Wolves, who have dropped 12 of their last 13 games.

"They got whatever they wanted and we took bad shot after bad shot," Minnesota forward Michael Beasley said.

Trailing by 15 with 5 1/2 minutes left in the third quarter, the Warriors put together a 10-0 run to cut the deficit to 68-63 with just over two minutes left in the frame. Minnesota held a 75-69 advantage heading into the final quarter.

The Warriors opened the final stanza with a 12-6 flurry and Rush capped the burst with a 15-foot jumper to tie the game at 81 with 8:06 to go.

Jenkins buried a step-back jumper with 3:11 left to give Golden State its first lead of the contest at 85-83.

Pekovic converted a three-point play with 1:28 remaining to put Minnesota up 88-87, but Rush buried the go-ahead shot from the right corner on the Warriors' next touch to go ahead for good.

McGuire then came up with a steal and a runout slam before converting a free throw on the play to finish off the victory.

Minnesota dominated the first 12 minutes of play, opening the quarter with a 20-8 run before it was snapped by a Jenkins jumper with five minutes to go in the stanza.

The T'Wolves then ripped off eight straight points, and a pair of free throws by Derrick Williams with less than a minute to go gave Minnesota a 32-12 lead. They led 32-17 after one quarter.

Minnesota continued to play well in the second, leading by double digits throughout. Golden State cut the deficit to 12 on two occasions, but a jumper by Pekovic with a minute left in the half gave the Wolves their largest lead of the half, 55-34, and they led comfortably at the break, 55-39.

Game Notes

The game featured three lead changes and four ties...Golden State shot 44 percent from the floor and 5-of-16 from three-point range, while Minnesota shot 36 percent from the field and 7-of-26 from beyond the arc...Golden State put home 13 fast break points to just four for the Timberwolves...Minnesota had the edge on the glass, outrebounding Golden State, 46-45.

According to the San Jose Mercury News' Marcus Thompson, two of the main cogs to the Golden State Warriors future success will have to go under the knife once again as both Stephen Curry and Andrew Bogut are set to have surgies to help their already nagging injuries.

Curry is set to have a scope of his oft-injured right ankle to try and find a specific reason why his ankle just can't get itself better. As for Bogut, he is going to have his fractured left ankle 'cleaned up,' looking to join the Warriors camp this fall without any issues.

Van Nuys, CA based Dr. Richard Ferkle will perform both operations, with Curry going in on Wednesday and Bogut scheduled for Friday.

"Now is the time to do it," Warriors general manager Larry Riley said in a phone interview Saturday. "You don't want to get into July and August and say we should've scoped this thing."

Bogut has had three MRIs since joining the Warriors on March 13. He broke his ankle Jan. 25 when he was with the Milwaukee Bucks. This procedure is to ensure everything has gone and will go smoothly.

"I'm not really too worried about the surgery," Bogut said. "But in saying that, it's still a surgery. I think I will bounce back fine, and it shouldn't hinder or change my game."

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Courtney Lee scored 20 points, while Goran Dragic added 18 points and seven assists as the Houston Rockets snapped a six- game slide with a 99-96 win over the Golden State Warriors on Saturday.

Luis Scola finished with 13 points and five boards for the Rockets, who are a full game behind Utah for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Jazz beat Orlando in overtime Saturday.

"We let six games go," Lee said of the losing streak. "Some of them we were in it down the stretch, we should have won them but we made mental mistakes."

The Rockets are also even with the Suns, who lost to Denver on Saturday, for ninth place.

Klay Thompson netted 24 points for the Warriors, losers of eight consecutive contests.

"He can put the ball on the floor and he's a under-rated passer, and he is good on the defensive end, he's going to be a heck of a player," Golden State head coach Mark Jackson said of Thompson.

Two Brandon Rush baskets sandwiched around a Lee three-pointer made it 96-92 in favor of the Rockets with 2:23 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Thompson's jumper pulled the Warriors within two before Chase Budinger made 1- of-2 from the foul line to make it 97-94 with 1:07 to go.

After Richard Jefferson turned the ball over at the other end, Patrick Patterson pulled down two crucial offensive rebounds and sealed the win with a tip-in, giving Houston a 99-94 advantage with 7.2 seconds to play.

"We got a fresh shot clock. We were able to waste some more time (off the clock). Then, he made a big play and he was able to tip it in," Lee said of Patterson's efforts during the final minute.

Earlier, Scola scored six points during a 10-0 Rockets run midway through the first quarter, which gave the hosts an 18-9 lead.

The Rockets led 31-21 after one, but the Warriors battled back to pull within 58-55 heading into the break after they outscored Houston, 34-27, in the second quarter.

Dragic netted seven points in the third and Houston took a 77-71 advantage into the fourth.

Game Notes

The Rockets tallied 22 second-chance points and held a 48-34 advantage on points in the paint...Houston was 10-of-26 from beyond the arc...The Rockets pulled down 15 offensive rebounds.

The Golden State Warriors have announced that recently-acquired big man Andrew Bogut will undergo surgery on his fractured ankle this week. Bogut has not played since January 25 and is yet to record any playing with the Warriors. No timetable for his return has been announced, but arthroscopic surgeries typically do not take all that long to recover from. Bogut should be back in time for summer workouts.

This news came just minutes after the Warriors announced Stephen Curry would be undergoing ankle surgery of his own, so Saturday hasn't exactly been great for the franchise. Fortunately for Golden State, this does not sound like a huge deal and they should have their talented center fully healthy for the start of the regular season next October.
