The San Jose Sharks are losers in their last three outings, but limited damage somewhat in their most recent outing by getting a point out of a shootout loss to the Edmonton Oilers, and as such, maintain their lead in the Pacific Division with four games on the Los Angeles Kings and a matching point total at 58. Still, three-straight losses is a bad place to be in, especially facing their second game in as many days before having a week off with the All-Star Game coming up.

San Jose would certainly like to get back in the win column before taking a week off, but the Calgary Flames currently present a tough test, having won two-straight. It's worth noting that their last loss was at the HP Pavilion against the very same Sharks, so San Jose could be confident in this one, but they really have struggled on the road at times this season.

It will also hurt the Sharks that defenseman Brent Burns won't be in the lineup, according to CSN Bay Area. Burns took a knee-to-knee hit from Oiler veteran Ales Hemsky in the third period of their game on Tuesday, and folks immediately thought the injury was very serious. As it stands now, he's essentially day-to-day, with the All-Star break coming at a great time for such a thing.

Justin Braun and Jim Vandermeer could replace Burns in the lineup, but that's still up in the air. Either way, this is the second of four meetings between the two teams, hwo have been strong offensively of late, at least in the shot column. This will likely come down to goalie play, something that may not favor San Jose with the absence of Burns. The game is set for 6:00 p.m. pacific on Tuesday and can be seen, as always, on CSN California.

The San Jose Sharks have dropped two straight, but they still lead the Pacific Division with fewer games played than the teams below them. They're got a short week with games on Monday and Tuesday, against the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames, respectively. After that, they've got a week-long layoff. For more on the Sharks, head on over to Fear The Fin.

The San Jose Sharks have hit a rough patch in their schedule, dropping their last two outings in their first losing streak of the new year, but they remain in first place in the Pacific Division. They're sitting one point above the Los Angeles Kings, while having played just 45 games to the Kings' 49. Still, in perhaps the most competitive division in the league, the Sharks need to get back in the win column sooner rather than later, and they've got a chance to do so on Monday when they travel to Edmonton to take on the struggling Oilers.

Edmonton is trying to shake off a losing streak of their own, having dropped their last three outings, including a 1-0 shutout to the St. Louis Blues, a 4-2 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets and a 6-2 beatdown at the hands of the Calgary Flames in their most recent outing. San Jose took the first meeting between these two teams this season, with Patrick Marleau scoring in the third period to list the Sharks to a 3-2 victory.

The Oilers have only won five games in their last 25 times out, and their loss to the Flames really hurt, falling to Calgary for the ninth straight time and the fourth time this season. Lee Stempniak had a hat trick and an assist, and the Oilers will either be totally devoid of any fire or looking for blood to get back in the win column. San Jose is riding Logan Couture right now, who has 20 goals on the season, and Dan Boyle is also hot with points in six of his last eight games.

After the game against Edmonton, the Sharks will take on the aforementioned Flames on Tuesday, before going off for an entire week, not resuming until they face the Blue Jackets on the following Tuesday.
