The most crucial matchup for Bay Area college basketball fans will be taking place this evening at 6 PM PT when the California Golden Bears get their rematch with the hated Stanford Cardinal. Cal was very close to winning a Pac-12 championship, but they came out playing frantically against Stanford on Sunday and came up short in that crucial contest.

Cal now moves from trying to win the Pac-12 to entering must-win territory. The Bears are not certain of their tournament status right now, and a third straight loss would cause all sorts of problems. Cal will have to try and contain a Stanford squad that played pretty solid basketball to overwhelm the Bears this past Sunday, and you can expect a similar performance needed to win on Thursday.

Cal or Stanford will face the Colorado or Oregon winner.

Here's the bracket information, tip-off times and TV schedules below. All times are Pacific.

The Stanford Cardinal men’s basketball team is looking to finish out their 2012 regular season with a huge win over their arch rival California Golden Bears, but will have their hand’s full at Maples pavilion Sunday will a very talented Bears squad.

The Golden Bears (23-7, 13-4 Pac-12) have not lost back-to-back games this season after falling 70-57 to Colorado their last time out. The loss snapped a six-game winning streak for Cal.

As for the Cardinal (19-10, 9-8 Pac-12), they look to enter the Pac-12 tournament with some momentum, entering the tourney the 7th seed regardless. Look for Dwight Powell to have a good game, entering the contest averaging 11.6 points and 6.0 rebounds in three career matchups with Cal, while shooting 14-28 from the field. That includes a career-high 20 points in his first time against them last year.

Stanford’s four-member senior class of Jarrett Mann, Josh Owens, Jack Trotter and Andrew Zimmermann will also be honored in a ceremony prior to Sunday’s game.
