Hoping to be ready by 2014, the construction of the $1.2 billion facility is about one-third complete.

This season, the 49ers have a chance to bring a Super Bowl trophy back to San Francisco for the first time since 1995. Looking beyond that, Niners brass is bringing a new element to the Bay Area -- a state-of-the-art football stadium. Having broken ground back in April, the new facility in Santa Clara is set to open in 2014, according to this video report from CSN Bay Area's Brodie Brazil.

The 49ers moved in to Candlestick Park in 1971, having left Kezar Stadium after playing there for nearly three decades. Now sights turn to a $1.2 billion stadium -- officially called Santa Clara Stadium -- with a seating capacity of 68,000. April 2012 began a 26-month process that has seen workers pull double-shifts, work overtime and even work around the clock to stay on track.

Santa Clara Stadium is reportedly more than twice the size of Candlestick, with the extra space being used for amenities and concourses to allow fans to maneuver more easily. The 49ers will share the stadium with the San Jose Earthquakes of the MLS.

The San Francisco 49ers have announced SAP AG as a founding partner for the new 49ers stadium that is currently being built in Santa Clara. SAP will be utilized for better knowledge of business software and analytics. As one of the arrangements for the new partnership, the team's new practice facility will now be known as the SAP Training Center. SAP will serve as San Francisco's Business Software, Statistics and Performance Partner to help better organize the 49ers in operational aspects.

SAP will also serve in a digital aspect in utilizing the Internet via tools like 49ers.com, Twitter and Facebook to help better integrate what fans are saying online so they can provide the best possible customer service. Human resources will be better developed to help keep the 49ers operation running as smoothly as ever. SAP's motto is to help companies run better, and it looks like they'll be operating in a similar capacity with the 49ers.

The San Francisco 49ers broke ground on their brand-new stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. on Apr. 19, and it hasn't taken long for them to starting capitalizing on the project. The 49ers have already sold $670 million in season tickets and luxury boxes.

Despite price increases in the Niners' new digs, many fans are eager to pay for the best seats, according a report from Yahoo! Sports.

A total of 26,520 seats in the upper deck, end zones and corners were sold in three months, the paper said. Most of the remaining seats are of the less-expensive variety.

The club said that since 2011, they have sold nearly three-quarters of their luxury suites, "which can cost as much as a new house,"...

The 49ers are scheduled to begin playing in the new stadium, which is being built with $200 million in help from the NFL, in 2014.

The Raiders held a secret meeting with city officials to discuss constructing a new stadium in Oakland.

Just about every team in the Bay Area wants a new stadium; the Oakland Raiders are no exception. The Raiders held a secret meeting on August 9 in which Oakland mayor Jean Quan and city officials met with Mark Davis and Raiders president Amy Trask according to the Oakland Tribune.

With the Warriors planning a move to San Francisco and the A’s looking to move to San Jose, the city of Oakland is hoping the Raiders will stay put, but build a new Coliseum complex. At this point it is unknown if the NFL, who already pledged $200 million to the 49ers planned stadium in Santa Clara, would contribute to a new stadium in Oakland. The NFL still hopes the two teams could become co-tenants of the Santa Clara stadium, although that looks unlikely at this stage.

The Raiders have said they would like to remain in Oakland, but in addition to Santa Clara a return to Los Angeles is not out of the question.

The San Francisco 49ers, as they prepare to move from their longtime home at Candlestick Park to a new home in Santa Clara, announced Wednesday that they have a new founding partner for that stadium in data management company Violin Memory. The partnership between Violin and the Niners will be effective this season in Candlestick, the club announced.

Violin Memory will be the "exclusive data storage provider" of the 49ers and will have branding in the suite tower in exchange for helping build the technology infrastructure at the stadium, something that figures to be pretty important when all the coaches are sharing plays and information on iPads in the sideline at some point in the future (it will happen, trust me). Financial terms of the arrangement were not disclosed.

"The 49ers are creating strategic partnerships with some of the world's most innovative companies to showcase a world-class fan experience," said 49ers CEO Jed York in a statement. "Our major stadium partnerships are built on a platform of sustainability and technology. Violin Memory is one of the first Founding Partners and the company's flash Memory Array systems will be critical to achieving our goals."

The partnership announcement did not include the news for which most 49ers fans are anxiously waiting — what the stadium will be called. This partnership announcement likely assures it won't be called Violin Memory Stadium, but nothing else.

An obscure oversight board that shocked Silicon Valley by pulling $30 million in tax funds from the San Francisco 49ers stadium to give to schools upped the ante Wednesday by hiring an attorney to defend its decision in court.

The taxpayer-funded lawyer, at $275 per hour, will try to fight off a lawsuit the Niners filed to appeal the funding swap. A judge may decide later this month whether the redevelopment funds should go to the Santa Clara stadium or local schools.

"If we lose, we lose. But this is a very important issue for all parties," oversight board chair Don Gage said.

Things got out of hand on June 22nd when this little-known oversight board voted 4-3 to take some of the redevelopment money designed to fund the $1.2 billion stadium, about $30 million worth. Oversight board members believe that this money is theirs and should be spent the way they desire to spend it. The 49ers sued soon after, and now the oversight board has hired an attorney, one Hilda Cantu Montoy, to try and get a clear and partial hearing for their cause.

The Niners should feel pretty comfortable where they stand right now, but that position could change if the court somehow finds in favor of the oversight board. Still, these issues are only financial and shouldn't keep the stadium from being completed. The 49ers have already begun construction on the stadium and expect it to be fully completed within two years. But there could be longer delays if the 49ers have to scramble to find additional sources of income to get the stadium completed.

For a deal as large as the proposed 49ers stadium in Santa Clara to go through, issues and speed bumps are bound to be encountered. Well, on Friday, that certainly happened, as the Santa Clara County board designated with overseeing property taxes from redevelopment zones voted 4-3 to pull back $30 million in funding previously promised to the 49ers stadium project. County Officials told the Mercury News that the money would instead be spent on teachers.

NinersNation's David Fucillo explains:

As I understand it, the 49ers were covering the $30 million and then they would subsequently be reimbursed by the redevelopments funds. Redevelopment funds have been a source of contention throughout California after the state scrapped the agencies in one of many attempts to clean up the state's budget mess. According to the San Jose Mercury news report, county tax collector George Putris proposed the motion and got a quick vote approving it. Putris stated that the need for these funds was greater at other public agencies, such as school districts.

The move comes as a big surprise to both the team and the City of Santa Clara. Per the AP, "a 49ers spokesman declined to comment when asked whether the decision could affect stadium construction, which began in April. Officials have said the team would simply absorb the cost if it loses the funds, which amount to less than three percent of the stadium's total price tag."

The pricing for reserved tickets in the soon-to-be-built 49ers stadium in Santa Clara have been announced today by the Santa Clara Stadium Authority and Legends Sales & Marketing. The launch marks the beginning of Phase II of the of seat allocation process, targeting reserved seat sales for 49ers season ticket holders.

As part of the ticket sales release, in order to purchase season tickets, you must also pay a one-time fee called a Stadium Builders Licenses (SBLs). Per Legends, "an SBL is a one-time cost that gives buyers control of their seats for 49ers home games. They are good for the life of the building and have additional benefits, including priority to purchase tickets for most other events that will be held at the stadium." Most of the SBL seats will cost anywhere in a range from $2,000-$6,000, with a few going for $12,000 each.

As for individual games, once you've purchased your SBL and locked down your season tickets, prices will range from $85 to $200 in the reserved sections. Almost half will be $100.00 or less beginning with the 2014 season, and there will be a three-year price freeze on season tickets in effect at the stadium.
