The Oakland A’s wrapped up a three-game set with the Blue Jays with a thrilling 5-4 victory at the Coliseum, taking 2 of the 3 from Toronto. The A’s took a 4-1 lead into the ninth inning before seeing their normally reliable bullpen melt down in the ninth. MIchael Wuertz and Jerry Blevins combined to give up three runs and the lead.

Fortunately for the A’s, the offense took care of business quickly in the bottom half of the ninth. Steve Tolleson led off the inning by singling and advancing to second on a passed ball. Cliff Pennington singled to right and that was enough to get Tolleson around for the win.

The A’s once again benefited from strong starting pitching, as Gio Gonzalez went 7 innings, holding the Blue Jays to 1 run on 2 hits and 4 walks, while striking out 6. He brought his ERA down to 3.39, which gives the A’s four starters with ERA’s under 3.45.

The A’s open up a three game series with the AL East-leading Tampa Bay Rays tomorrow night.

The Oakland A’s finish up their three-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays looking to lock down what would be a rare series victory. The A’s have been battling to get above .500, but aside from a couple games here and there, they continue to sink back to or just below the .500 mark.

Gio Gonzalez will take the hill looking for his 11th win of the season. Gonzalez has come on strong in the second half of the season and will look to continue that through the rest of the season. The Blue Jays send out part-time starter Marc Rzepczynski who has appeared in five games this season, with three of them being starts.

Dallas Braden was sensational against the Blue Jays on Tuesday. Sensational enough to get the A's a win, who are now tied in the series with Toronto at one game all.

Athletics Nation has a recap up on the matter:

But the real story of the game was Toronto's defense, which was...let's go with "interesting". With men on 1B and 3B and one out, Jack Cust did the unthinkable and grounded into what should have been an easy double play.Aaron Hill fielded the ball, tagged the runner, and flipped to Lyle Overbay for the third out, only to watch the ball roll away. Jack Cust ended up at second base, and a run scored. Two batters later, Rajai Davis hit an RBI single to LF that Travis Snider somehow managed to toss fifteen feet behind him.

And just to make Toronto feel even worse, Cliff Pennington made a play that will live on highlight reels for quite a while, as he ranged far to his left to make a beautiful throw after a quick spin. Economical, gorgeous, and really impressive-much like the A's tonight.

The Oakland A’s look to snap their 4-game losing streak as they face Brandon Morrow and the Toronto Blue Jays. Morrow is coming off a 17 strikeout, 1 hit complete game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Given the A’s penchant for swinging and missing, Morrow could rack up a few more strikeouts tonight.

The A’s send Dallas Braden to the hill where he looks for win #8 and the A’s look to move to 2 games under .500. The A’s have fallen off a cliff lately and at this point are looking for some positive momentum to carry them into the offseason.

The A's couldn't do much of anything against Shaun Marcum in Monday night's series opener in Oakland. Marcum pitched a one-hit game and the offense was nowhere to be found. The one hit happened to be a home run, courtesy of Conor Jackson.

The only bright spots were the fact that the A's seemed to hustle on defense - the Blue Jay's hit into a few double plays but other than that it was pretty much them coasting to victory. With 11 hits, you might expect a score worse than 3-1, but again - the double plays.

Next up is Dallas Braden for the A's, who will look for some serious run support and try and elevate his play to early-season levels, when he had a perfect game.

The Oakland Athletics host the Toronto Blue Jays in a three-game set, beginning on Monday night. The A's will have to contend with Shaun Marcum, who's coming off two losses - though they're two losses to some of the league's best offenses. The A's will be hoping that his confidence is low and that they can boost their struggling offense with a bad performance from him, seeing as how he's coming off of giving up four runs to the Red Sox and being beaten soundly by the Yankees.

The A's were just swept by the rival Twins and are returning home, looking for some offense. The Blue Jays have had their way with the A's this season, and are coming off of two straight series road wins, but they've never played against Brett Anderson - who, by proxy, has never played the Blue Jays. Maybe they'll get one of those random "this player is kryptonite to this team" kind of things, yes?
