<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">Andres Torres went 2-for-6 with a solo homer and scored three times, while Buster Posey also hit a solo shot for the Giants, who earned their first-ever sweep of the Brewers and have won five of their last six overall. Freddy Sanchez chipped in with three hits, two RBI and scored twice.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">Dan Runzler (3-0) picked up the win for retiring the final two batters in the sixth inning. Giants starter Barry Zitoallowed two runs on seven hits with six walks and seven strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">Rickie Weeks and Prince Fielder each finished with two hits and an RBI for Milwaukee, which has dropped five straight and six of seven.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">Manny Parra (3-6) suffered the loss after getting raked for 10 hits and six runs -- four earned -- over five frames. The lefty also struck out five and walked a pair.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">San Francisco plated a first-inning run to grab the early lead. Torres led off the game with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt, then to third on a balk and came home on a Huff base hit.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">The Brewers' offensive struggles continued in the second inning, as they loaded the bases with nobody out, but Zito pitched out of trouble unscathed.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">Sanchez started the third with a single and scored when Huff followed with a homer to right for a 3-0 game. Then in the fourth, Sanchez roped a two- run double down the left-field line, took third on an error and scored on Huff's sac fly to center to put the Giants ahead 6-0.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">Fielder's run-scoring base in the home half got the Brewers on the board.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">Milwaukee loaded the bases off Zito with two outs in the fifth and Giants manager Bruce Bochy replaced the left-hander with Denny Bautista, who walked Weeks to force in a run. However, Alcides Escobar struck out to end the inning.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">Again with the bases full and nobody out in the sixth, the Brewers could only push one across one when Carlos Gomez drew a free pass to make it a 6-3 game.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">Torres led off the eighth with a homer to right. Posey hit a solo shot and pinch-hitter Travis Ishikawa chased in another with a single in the top of the ninth to up the Giants advantage to 9-3.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">Brian Wilson came on in a non-save situation in the bottom half and got the final three outs to finish off the victory.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">Runzler left the game with a left ankle injury after swinging and missing in his seventh-inning plate appearance...San Francisco outscored the Brewers 36-7 in the series...Milwaukee went 2-for-17 with runners in scoring position and stranded 17, while San Francisco finished 3-for-12 with RISP and left 11.</p>

<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">Giants hurler Barry Zito hopes to keep the momentum going this afternoon and snap a four-start winless drought in the process as San Francisco goes for its first-ever four-game sweep in Milwaukee.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">The Giants have outscored the Brewers, 27-4, over the first three games of this series at Miller Park. More than half of those runs came in last night's 15-2 rout that featured two homers and a career-high six RBI from Buster Posey.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">Posey, the fifth overall pick of the 2008 draft, hit the first grand slam of his career and finished with a personal-best four hits. He also hit a two-run homer in the first inning, following solo homers by Andres Torres andAubrey Huff as the Giants hit three homers in the first inning for the first time since Aug. 22, 1999.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">San Francisco pulled within five games of first-place San Diego in the NL West and has won six of its last seven versus Milwaukee. The Giants try today for their first four-game road sweep of the Brewers since Sept. 21-24, 2006.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">"It was a lot of fun. We just rolled tonight," said Posey after his club won for the fourth time in five games and improved to 4-3 on an 11-game road trip that ends with this weekend's series at Washington.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">The 15 runs, the most for San Francisco since May 13, 2007, were more than enough for Tim Lincecum, who struck out 10 over seven innings of one-run ball. His lone mistake was a solo homer hit by Milwaukee's Rickie Weeks to begin the third inning.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">Brewers starter Chris Narveson was shelled for 10 runs, nine of those earned, over just 3 1/3 innings as his club dropped its fourth straight game. Milwaukee is on its longest skid since a nine-game slide from May 10-19.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">"Tonight they put a whipping on us," said Milwaukee manager Ken Macha. "I don't think anybody was pleased with what was going on tonight. They pretty much teed off on Narveson's fastball in the first inning. Then it looked like he was going to settle down like he's done before, but he ran out of gas."</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">Zito will try to pitch San Francisco to the sweep tonight but he has gone just 1-3 with a 5.30 earned run average in nine starts since beginning the season 6-1 with a 2.15 ERA. The left-hander is also winless over his last four starts (0-2) and is coming off a no-decision versus the Rockies on Saturday in which he allowed six runs over 5 1/3 innings of his team's 11-8 victory. Zito failed to hold a six-run lead in the game.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">The 32-year-old is 7-4 with a 3.75 ERA on the season and just 1-3 with a 6.19 ERA in six career starts versus Milwaukee.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">Brewers starter Manny Parra also struggled with a lead last time out, but he was able to hold onto a victory over the Cardinals on Saturday. Parra had an 11-0 lead by the fifth inning, but gave up five runs over 5 2/3 innings and 116 pitches in a 12-5 triumph.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">"In my opinion, when you get an 11-0 lead you get through seven innings," Parra told Milwaukee's website.</p>

<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;">Parra has faced San Francisco six times, three of those starts, and is 2-1 with a 4.37 ERA.</p>

<p>It was all <span>Buster Posey</span> all the time, or at least that's how it will be remembered. In the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/teams/SFG">San Francisco Giants'</a> best offensive showing this year, Posey hit a grand slam in the fourth to accentuate his coming-out performance which included four hits, including two homers, while driving in six runs in a performance that he won't soon forget. At least until he bests all of the career highs he set tonight.</p>
<p>Posey was just the bright spot in the 15-run win over the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/teams/MIL">Milwaukee Brewers</a>, which started off on a high point with homers from <span>Aubrey Huff</span>, <span>Andres Torres</span> and the aforementioned Posey in the first inning - the first time the Giants have opened a game with three homers since 1999. The 15 runs scored are the most from the Giants since May of 2007. The four total home runs were also a season high.</p>
<p><span>Tim Lincecum</span> had a very good showing, rebounding from a string of bad games by striking out 10 and giving up one run in seven innings. It's such an odd thing to be reading about an offensive explosion from the Giants that Lincecum's strong performance was almost overlooked. A good bounce back after suffering losses in his last two starts.</p>
<p><span>Freddy Sanchez</span> and the previously mentioned Torres finished the night with two hits and three runs batted in.</p>
<p><span>Chris Narveson</span> hung up the ol' pitching arm (I'll get that term to stick) in 3 1/3 innings after giving up 10 runs.</p>
<p>Up three games in the four game series, the Giants are looking to complete a sweep with another strong win in game four.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/events/55299/preview/108584" target="_blank">(Sports Network)</a> - The Giants have found the key to beating the Brewers; just hit it to the shortstop.</p>
<p>After taking the first two contests of this four-game series at Miller Park thanks in part to a pair of errors, San Francisco sends Tim Lincecum to the hill for tonight's game versus Milwaukee with the hopes that the two-time defending National League Cy Young Award winner can avoid a third straight losing start.</p>
<p>The Giants have won back-to-back games for the first time since June 20-22 and seven of the 12 runs they have scored in the consecutive 6-1 victories have been unearned.</p>
<p>After Milwaukee shortstop Alcides Escobar botched a possible double-play ball on Monday that helped spark a four-run seventh inning for the Giants, his third error in two games, Craig Counsell replaced him at short last night but also threw away a possible double play in Tuesday's contest that led to four of the five runs the Giants scored in the sixth inning last night being unearned.</p>
<p>"We had a sixth inning there that I didn't see on the horizon," Brewers manager Ken Macha said. "[Starter Randy] Wolf pitched five great innings, but then he walked the first two guys. We got the ground ball double play we wanted, but we didn't turn it."</p>
<p>Milwaukee's miscues helped San Francisco starter Madison Bumgarner win his first MLB game in what was his fourth career start and third this season. The 20-year-old 10th overall pick of the 2007 draft hurled eight shutout innings and limited the Brewers to three hits and three walks.</p>
<p>"I got a beer shower, but honestly, it didn't feel that good because I felt I pitched better in my earlier starts," Bumgarner said. "It feels great to get my first win, but I just wanted to win a big game for the team."</p>
<p>Bumgarner also drove in a run and Travis Ishikawa added a two-run single for the Giants, who have won three of four since a seven-game slide and moved within six games of first-place San Diego in the NL West.</p>
<p>San Francisco, which split six games at Miller Park last year, has won five of its last six versus Milwaukee after dropping nine of 11 in the series and hopes that Lincecum can improve his 1-2 mark and 5.67 lifetime earned run average versus the Brewers.</p>
<p>The right-hander has had an up-and-down season so far as he strung together three winning starts after a four-game winless stretch (0-2), but has since lost consecutive starts and has allowed eight runs over nine innings.</p>
<p>Lincecum lasted just three frames versus Boston on June 27 and was then tagged for four runs on nine hits and four walks over six innings in a setback at Colorado on Friday. The 26-year-old has walked 46 batters in 109 2/3 innings this year after issuing 68 free passes in 225 1/3 innings last year. He is 8-4 on the season with a 3.28 ERA, including 3-1 with a 2.94 ERA in eight road starts.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the Brewers have been outscored 19-3 over a three-game losing streak, with 12 of those runs allowed unearned. Also Corey Hart went 0-for-4 on Tuesday to end his 20-game hit streak.</p>
<p>Milwaukee will look to rebound tonight behind lefty Chris Narveson, who had a personal two-game win streak end on Friday after allowing four runs on seven hits over five innings of a 5-0 setback to the Cardinals. He has failed to pitch longer than five innings in three of his last four starts.</p>

<p>The Giants continued their success in Milwaukee thanks to eight innings of brilliance from rookie Madison Bumgarner. Bumgarner held the Brewers to three hits and three walks in the best outing of his young career. He also received his highest level of run support, thanks in part to a 2-for-4 night from Travis Ishikawa. Ishikawa has been solid in limited action, but has a nice little run going lately. Over the last four games he’s 6-for-16 with seven RBIs.</p>
<p>Milwaukee, WI (<a href="http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/events/55298/recap/108537" target="new">Sports Network</a>) – Madison Bumgarner pitched eight shutout innings to get his first major league win, as the San Francisco Giants beat the Milwaukee Brewers, 6-1, in the continuation of a four-game series.</p>
<p>Bumgarner (1-2), the 10th overall pick in the 2007 draft, was making his fourth career start and third of the season. The 20-year-old left-hander limited the Brewers to three hits and three walks, and struck out five in the victory.</p>
<p>“I got a beer shower, but honestly, it didn’t feel that good because I felt I pitched better in my earlier starts,” Bumgarner said. “It feels great to get my first win, but I just wanted to win a big game for the team.”</p>
<p>Bumgarner also added his first career <span class="caps">RBI</span> in the sixth inning, when the Giants took advantage of a Milwaukee fielding miscue and scored five runs. Travis Ishikawa had a two-run single for San Francisco, which was coming off a win in Monday’s series-opener. It is the first time the Giants have won two in a row since June 20 and 22.</p>
<p>Randy Wolf (6-8) gave up five runs — only one earned — in seven innings and took the loss for the Brewers, who have dropped three in a row. Corey Hart had his 20-game hitting streak broken after going 0-for-4.</p>
<p>Wolf struck out eight but walked four, and two of those got him into trouble in the sixth. He issued walks to Andres Torres and Freddy Sanchez to begin the inning, and after Wolf fanned Buster Posey, Torres and Sanchez executed a double steal.</p>
<p>Wolf intentionally walked Pat Burrell to get to get to Pablo Sandoval, who hit a ground ball to short. Craig Counsell fielded it and intended to throw to Rickie Weeks at second base to initiate a double play, but instead side-armed the ball into the outfield, allowing two runs to score.</p>
<p>Wolf got Edgar Renteria to pop out before intentionally walking Aaron Rowand to load the bases. Ishikawa then hit a hot shot to Weeks, who wasn’t able to handle it as the ball bounced to the outfield. Burrell and Sandoval scored to make it a 4-0 game.</p>
<p>Bumgarner then grounded a single to right field to push the lead to five before Wolf got out of the inning.</p>
<p>“We had a sixth inning there that I didn’t see on the horizon,” Brewers manager Ken Macha said. “Wolf pitched five great innings, but then he walked the first two guys. We got the ground ball double play we wanted, but we didn’t turn it.”</p>
<p>The Giants held the lead thanks to Bumgarner, who escaped several minor jams. He walked consecutive batters with one out in the second inning, but got two straight outs to keep Milwaukee off the board. In the third, he had two on with one away before retiring the next two batters.</p>
<p>Bumgarner pitched well in the late innings, and made his way through the heart of Milwaukee’s lineup in the eighth, retiring Weeks and Hart on ground balls. He hit Prince Fielder, but got Ryan Braun to ground out to end the frame.</p>
<p>Posey’s sacrifice fly in the ninth made it a 6-0 game, and in the bottom half, pinch-hitter Joe Inglett hit an <span class="caps">RBI</span> single before Sergio Romo fanned Weeks to end the game.</p>
<p>Prior to Tuesday’s start, Bumgarner had pitched 24 career innings. He lowered his <span class="caps">ERA</span> to 2.86 with Tuesday’s performance…The Brewers placed starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday due to a strained left rib cage muscle. Gallardo suffered the injury Sunday, when he was named an All-Star for the first time in his career, and will have to miss the mid- summer classic. The Brewers also activated pitcher Doug Davis from the 15-day DL on Tuesday.</p>

<p>Coming off a very tough extra inning loss at Colorado, the Giants were able to bounce back with a late inning surge against the Brewers. Jonathan Sanchez and the Giants bullpen contained the Brewers bats, and bought enough time for a 4-run seventh inning.</p>
<p>Milwaukee, WI (<a href="http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/events/55297/recap/108439" target="new">Sports Network</a>) – Aubrey Huff went 3-for-4, knocked in two and Buster Posey added a solo homer, as the San Francisco Giants earned a 6-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers in the opener of a four-game series at Miller Park.</p>
<p>Pablo Sandoval and Freddy Sanchez also drove in a run apiece for the Giants, who won for only the second time in their last 10.</p>
<p>Jonathan Sanchez (7-6) picked up the win for yielding one run on five hits with six walks over six frames. The left-hander also fanned six.</p>
