2013 NFL Mock Draft: Raiders select Texas A&M DE Damontre Moore

SB Nation NFL draft editor Dan Kadar sees the Raiders going defense over quarterback in his latest mock draft Monday.

USA TODAY Sports

Now that it's certain that the Raiders own the third overall selection, SB Nation's Dan Kadar has them selecting Texas A&M DE Damontre Moore in his latest mock draft Monday.

Here's what our mother site's NFL draft editor had to say about his prediction:

"Terrelle Pryor isn't the answer at quarterback for Oakland, but this is early for Matt Barkley, Tyler Wilson or Mike Glennon. Instead, Oakland could look to improve one of the league's worst pass rush units with the talented Moore. Not only did Moore lead Texas A&M in tackles this season, he also had 20 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks. After playing with his hand in the dirt and standing up, Moore would give the Raiders some flexibility on defense."

And really, it's hard to argue with Kadar's logic. Only one team finished with less sacks than the Raiders this season so a pass rusher would go a long way to fixing their defensive woes. With Richard Seymour a virtual lock to be in a different uniform next season as well, the Raiders would be wise to add an impact player into their dreadful defensive line rotation.

Moore weighs in a 6'4, 250 pounds. Beyond the stats that Kadar already listed, Moore also registered 80 tackles and was named an All-American by four different media outlets.
