Carson Palmer on Raiders' bye: 'We got a lot accomplished this week'

The Oakland Raiders signal-caller spoke about key areas of development for an underachieving team during the bye week.

Oakland Raiders' quarterback Carson Palmer believes the team got plenty of good work done during a bye week when the focus was on improving on a disappointing first quarter of the season, not relaxing.

Palmer told the Contra Costa Times, "I really feel like we got a lot accomplished this week," he said. "We focused so much on third down, we will be better. And offensively, we're going to keep our defense fresher and keep them off the field."

The Raiders have struggled to a 1-3 record and are tied for last place in the AFC West division with the Kansas City Chiefs. Their lone win came in a 34-31 thriller at the Black Hole against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Aside from that, the team has been consistently inconsistent, making mental mistakes and lacking the ability to control the clock.

Coming out of the bye week, the Raiders will have a tough task ahead as they travel to the East Coast to take on the Atlanta Falcons Oct. 14.
