Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has made a nice gesture by donating to the Oakland police department. Steve Corkran has this report from the Bay Area News Group. This is the second grant of the 2012-13 season from the Ben Roethlisberger Foundation at The Giving Back Fund.
This really doesn't have much to do with the fact that Oakland generally has a high crime rate; this is standard practice for every away opponent for the Steelers this year. The Ben Roethlisberger Foundation's plan is to distribute grants to K-9 units of police and fire departments in the cities and surrounding communities for each away game Pittsburgh plays over the course of the season. This has been an ongoing act by the Roethlisberger foundation for many years.
Talk about Roethlisberger's act of generosity with Steeler fans by heading on over to Behind the Steel Curtain, and with Raiders fans by hitting up Silver and Black Pride.
