Fantasy football draft season is upon us and once again the two starting running backs in the Bay Area will be among the most sought-after players on draft day.
Fake Teams, SB Nation's fantasy sports blog, recently released their 2012 fantasy running back rankings and Oakland's Darren McFadden checked in at No. 6. It is an elite ranking for McFadden, who rushed for 614 yards in 2011 while missing nine games due to injury. McFadden's backup, Taiwan Jones, also cracks the list at No. 66 while third-string running back Mike Goodson is 75th on the list.
It wasn't long ago that San Francisco's Frank Gore might be ranked in the No. 6 range, but even after a season in which he ran for 1,211 yards, Gore is No. 17 on the Fake Teams list. Fake Teams isn't so worried about Gore, but the 49ers crowded backfield concerns them. San Francisco added LaMichael James and Brandon Jacobs this offseason, and they could cut into Gore's production.
James is ranked 73rd on Fake Teams' list while Jacobs comes in at No. 80. The other running back in the crowded San Francisco backfield, Kendall Hunter, checks in at No. 77.
