2012 NFL Draft Results: Chiefs Select Donald Stephenson At No. 73

With the No. 73 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs have selected Donald Stephenson, OT out of Oklahoma.

Stephenson joins second round pick Jeff Allen and the Chiefs' first round selection, Dontari Poe, the defensive tackle out of Memphis. Most felt that Poe was a solid selection for the Chiefs at pick No. 11 in round one, but the majority of the experts were also of the opinion that a better player could have been had there. On top of that, there were several players whom experts thought project to be a better fit, as well. Either way, Kansas City's haul through three rounds is set (barring trades).

Stephenson is a developmental tackle prospect with many of the same issues as Dontari Poe- limitless potential, questionable motor. If Stephenson works hard and fulfills his promise, he may slide to right tackle in the Chiefs' system with Branden Albert on the other side. The Chiefs are working hard to solidify their lines and provide protection for Matt Cassel.
