2012 NFL Draft Results: Broncos Select Brock Osweiler at #57

With the 57th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos select Brock Osweiler, QB from Arizona State.

The Broncos traded out of the first round entirely and with their first selection at #36 overall they chose Derek Wolfe, DT from the University of Cincinnati. With this selection they take a QB in Osweiler whom they can groom to be the successor to Peyton Manning (something Indianapolis never did). Osweiler is huge at 6'7" and has a rocket arm. Now is a perfect time for the Broncos to take a developmental quarterback to sit behind Manning for what is likely the remainder of Manning's career.

Osweiler has all the physical tools you look for, but is significantly taller than any previously successful quarterback in NFL history. He also is short on collegiate starts and doesn't have much experience. He also tends to rely on his cannon arm too much and makes mistakes when the windows are too small. His freakish size renders him slightly too immobile to avoid the best pass rushers. However, he is the sort of guy you would want to sit and learn for several years behind one of the finest quarterbacks who ever lived.

This pick was announced by Broncos legend Terrell Davis.
