Oakland Raiders Offer Offensive Coordinator Position To Greg Knapp, According To Report

The Oakland Raiders are beginning to piece together their new coaching staff behind new head coach Dennis Allen. One of the biggest issues appears to be finding someone who can run the offense consistently.

Allen has apparently found the guy he wants. Alex Marvez of Fox Sports reports that multiple sources have Knapp getting the job.

Knapp has definitely gotten his quarterbacks to perform at a high level, as not only Matt Schaub but backup T.J. Yates performed well. However, his offensive coordinator record has been a bit more checkered. He had some success with the 2001-03 declining 49ers, and seemed to peak with the 2004 Falcons, but his teams never seemed to improve in his final two seasons despite having Michael Vick as the quarterback. His stint with the Oakland Raiders in 2007-08 didn't go much better. But his recent resurgence with Houston has to be a good thing.

Can Knapp get more out of Carson Palmer or Jason Campbell? Only time will tell.

To discuss the possibility of Knapp on the Raiders, head on over to Silver and Black Pride.
