The folks at OddsShark opened up the line on the Oakland Raiders-Buffalo Bills game and the Bills opened as four point favorites. The line has since come down a point to three, but the Bills remained favored. The over/under for the game sits at 43 points.
We'll have our picks against the spread on Thursday and for now I am leaning towards taking the Bills to cover. This has less to do with the Bills decimation of the Kansas City Chiefs and more to do with the Raiders facing a short week and the trip East. West coast teams often struggle when they play on the East coast at 10:00am pacific and when you add in the quick turnaround following a physical Monday Night Football game against the Denver Broncos.
Gamblers apparently disagree to some extent as they have brought the line down to three, but I still think the Bills are the bet. Of course, it is entirely possible the Raiders are turning things around this year and can beat the East Coast travel bug. Given the Raiders reliance on a strong rushing attack, maybe they can get past it.
