Prior to the NFL Draft, players take the Wonderlic test, which is considered a bit of an intelligence test and a chance to gauge a player's problem solving ability in a fairly limited time. The exam takes place at the NFL Combine and while scores are never officially released, they do leak out from time to time. Oakland Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor may have been subject to such a leak. According to Green Bay Packers beat writer Bob McGinn, Pryor allegedly scored a 7 on the exam.
It is important to note that previous leaks have been found to be untrue, as seen by the report that Eagles QB Vince Young scored a 6 on the Wonderlic. It turns out he actually scored a 16. That's not to say this report is inaccurate, but it should still be taken with a grain of salt.
That certainly won't stop the ragging on the Raiders. Of course, given that Jamarcus Russell reportedly scored a respectable 24 on the test, how much more can you really rag on the team? If they convert him to wide receiver, tight end or running back and just get the ball in his hands, who cares whether he can figure out what number comes next in the pattern 27 - 9 - 3 - 1 - 1/3 - 1/9 - __ (It's 1/27). Just get the ball in his hands and let him use his athleticism!
