NFL Free Agents 2011: Michael Huff Reportedly Re-Signs With Raiders

The Oakland Raiders have reportedly come to terms with safety Michael Huff, securing a portion of their secondary moving forward. There were questions whether the Raiders would sign Huff, particularly when they got into the action on 49ers free agent Dashon Goldson.

Huff has had his ups and downs but seemed to start breaking through in 2010. He started his career as a strong safety but struggled through the first three years of his career. However, the move to free safety seemed to get him back in gear and start to justify the Raiders seventh overall selection.

Even if the Raiders had wanted to extend Huff prior to this, they were unable to due to a a rule related to his contract. His rookie deal escalated at a rate higher than 30 percent from 2009 to 2010, and the rule precluded such contracts from allowing a contract extension with his team.

Naturally there are some mixed reactions from Raiders fans. Head over to Silver and Black Pride’s discussion of the Huff signing to get in on the chatter.
