NFL Draft 2011 Round Two Mock Draft: Oakland Raiders Second Round Predictions

The folks at SB Nation made a seriously quick turnaround and produced a second round mock draft in advance of day two of the 2011 NFL Draft. This latest projection has the Oakland Raiders selectiing Penn State center Stefen Wisniewski.

48. Oakland Raiders: Stefen Wisniewski, C, Penn State. Wisniewski is the type that will get over-drafted a touch, and Oakland seems like a perfect fit for him.

The Raiders current center is Samson Satele, who is a restricted free agent. The Raiders tendered him so it would seem likely he’ll be back, but you never can tell in this tenuous labor time. Additionally, it sounds like with Hue Jackson instituting a bit of a power game, Satele might be a little bit undersized for the center role.

At the same time, one has to wonder how concerned the Raiders are about the cornerback and quarterback positions. They don’t know what will happen with Nnamdi Asomugha and Jason Campbell has yet to prove he’s the answer at quarterback. The Raiders are in a tough spot in this year’s draft, looking at many needs and fewer picks than they might otherwise like. They could go in a variety of directions and I would be a bit surprised if it was along the offensive line.
