Oakland Raiders middle linebacker Rolando McClain remains a game-time decision as head coach Hue Jackson has not yet declared his status for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins. McClain was arrested on Thursday and charged with discharging a firearm in public, third degree assault, menacing and reckless endangerment. He was released on bail Thursday afternoon and met the team at their hotel in Ft. Lauderdale on Friday.
McClain took part in the Raiders' Saturday walkthrough at Dolphins Stadium. While this guarantees nothing, this would seem to be a good sign that he will be active for Sunday's game. At the same time, Hue Jackson likely wants to keep the Dolphins guessing right up until game time, so it is now just a matter of waiting for the game-day inactives list.
While McClain has not had a great season, he has been a solid part of the Raiders rush defense. The Raiders would likely move outside linebacker Aaron Curry into middle linebacker if McClain is inactive. This weakens two positions at once against a team that has been running the ball particularly well lately. Head coach Hue Jackson has to consider that, but must focus on the message he wants to send as well.
