The Raiders got things started off on the right foot, as Bryan McCann returned the opening kickoff 91 yards to set up the Raiders at the Kansas City 14-yard line on their first set of downs. The Chiefs proved stingy within the red zone, however, forcing the Oakland squad to settle for a field goal.
Carson Palmer later began leading the Raiders on what seemed like a significant drive downfield, but tossed an interception which led to the Chiefs taking over on the Oakland 37. It was Palmer's 14th interception of the season. The Chiefs were able to tie the game on a field goal following the pick.
