Darren McFadden Injury Update: Sprained Foot, Not Practicing

Raiders starting tailback Darren McFadden is recovering from a foot injury through the bye week, and it's taking time to heal properly. The news isn't quite so supportive that McFadden will be back in time for this week's game against the Broncos.

Steve Corkran tweeted the following:

Darren McFadden is not practicing. Wednesday might be a realistic target date.

Then Jerry McDonald of the Contra Costa Times added this:

There's already concern in this area, as running back Darren McFadden has a midfoot sprain of unknown severity. He could be back against Denver on Nov. 6, but it's no slam dunk.

The Raiders can get by without McFadden for short periods of time by using Michael Bush and increasing the workload of explosive rookie Taiwan Jones.

McFadden's probably not in serious danger of missing time yet, but it has to be worrisome that he's still not practicing. It could just be precautionary, especially considering that McFadden has had a recent injury history. Also, Hue Jackson probably doesn't want to rush McFadden back to action and risk further injury even with the uncertain quarterback position, and it's not as if the Denver Broncos are the toughest threat the team will face this year.

Stay tuned to updates on McFadden's status.
