The Oakland Raiders marched down the field to start things off against the New England Patriots. Jason Campbell spread the wealth around, finding Denarius Moore for seven yards, Darren McFadden for 15 yards, then hooked up with Kevin Boss for 23 and 12 yards. A Raiders holding penalty in the red zone stalled the drive, and Sebastian Janikowski had to kick a gimmee 28 yard field goal to put Oakland up 3-0.
But back came New England, and a former Patriot did a lot of the damage for Oakland. A crucial personal foul penalty by Richard Seymour cost the Raiders 15 yards on a 3rd and 9. Then a Seymour face mask set the Patriots up at the Oakland 32. A Stephen Ridley direct snap went for 15 yards, and then Tom Brady found Wes Welker to give the Patriots the lead through one quarter.
