Jason Campbell Returns, Oakland Finds The End Zone Via Chaz Schilens

The offense of the Kansas City Chiefs has been held down pretty well early on by the Oakland Raiders. Matt Cassel has completed 5 of 12 passes for only 43 yards. Jamaal Charles injured his shoulder, although he is still playing in the game. Kansas City has only a couple of first downs and three punts, and are averaging only 2.5 yards per carry on the ground.

After one series with Kyle Boller, Jason Campbell returned from an early knee injury and marched Oakland down the field with a 14 play, 91 yard, six-and-a-half minute drive. It started with a 21 yard Campbell scramble down the right sideline on 2nd and 20. Then Campbell found Michael Bush for another first down, converted a short pass to Chaz Schilens for 11 yards on 3rd and 7, and hooked up with Jacoby Ford deep for 35 yards to set up 1st and goal at the 6 yard line. Finally, on 3rd and goal, Campbell found Schilens alone at the back of the end zone, giving the Raiders a 7-3 lead over the Chiefs in Arrowhead. It was Schilens’s first touchdown of the entire season.
