Raiders vs. Jaguars: Rashad Jennings, Raiders Fumble Lead To 14 Points And Jacksonville Lead

This game just got an extra dose of crazy fairly quickly. Back to back big plays left the Oakland Raiders leading 24-14, but a long run by Rashad Jennings, a Raiders fumble, and a huge Mike Sims-Walker catch have the Jacksonville Jaguars now leading 28-24 late in the third quarter.

Until a few minutes ago, the Raiders had shut down the Jaguars rushing attack, holding Maurice Jones-Drew to 37 yards on 12 carries. However, the Jaguars found a second answer in the form of backup running back Rashad Jennings. Prior to today’s game, Jennings had rushed for 197 yards and two touchdowns on 39 carries. Jennings started out solidly today with 29 rushes on three carries. However, his fourth carry was the difference-maker for Jacksonville. Jennings burst off the left tackle for a 74-yard touchdown run to cut the lead to 24-21.

On the ensuing kickoff Jacoby Ford hauled in the short kick and as he cut to his right towards the middle of the field he was stripped and Jacksonville recovered the ball. They then moved the short distance and capitalized with a third and goal touchdown pass from David Garrard to Mike Sims-Walker. Just like that the Jaguars have taken their first lead of the game. If they can contain the Raiders offense, expect a heavy dose of Maurice Jones-Drew, with a side of Rashad Jennings.
