The Oakland Raiders lead is gone and it’s slowly slipping away as the Miami Dolphins now lead 23-14. The Dolphins just missed a field goal so the Raiders certainly are not out of it yet with over a quarter of football left to play. The Dolphins last drive stalled out at the Oakland 31 and Dan Carpenter missed a 50-yard field goal attempt.
After Miami opened the half with a 57-yard touchdown pass to take a 20-14 lead, the Raiders offense continued to sputter. They went three and out and the Dolphins capitalized on the punt by grabbing three more points on a 44-yard field goal. The Raiders went three and out on their next drive and the Dolphins just missed adding three more points.
The Raiders got the ball back at their own 40 yard line but were unable to capitalize. After moving down to the Miami 35 yard line, Bruce Gradkowski threw a pass into the end zone that was picked off by Chris Clemons. The pass was intended for Jacoby Ford and one has to wonder if Gradkowski is trying to force things to his rookie playmaker.
